The committee were lucky enough to be invited to the Annual Prizegiving at their headquarters in Mengham Park. We were invited because the Twinning Association sponsors the under-12 team's away strip.

Five of us were able to attend and David Collins, our chairman, was asked to present the trophies to the team.

The weather was glorious - a beautiful Spring day! When Allan and I arrived they were holding a mini World Cup tournament and all we could see were boys of all ages playing their hearts out!

Six years ago St Andrews had 12 players, this year they have 150! The ages range from 4 years to 12 years old.

Every member received a trophy and each team had special trophies for Best improved Player, Most Valuable Player and Players Player.

I believe there are 3 under-12 teams and trophies to the other two teams were presented by Marilyn Skennerton from Hayling Lions, another sponsor, and none other than our new MP Alan Mak - a big surprise!

Our team had just come top of their league in Portsmouth 12 wins, 1 draw 0 losses and the club has just been endorsed by the Football Association as a club that has good coaching skills and the welfare of the children is paramount.

We are in consultation with Stuart Hawley, of the club, to take a team of boys over to Gorron, hopefully, next year. They would play a tournament with a team from Gorron and, the rest of the weekend, would experience the great leisure facilities in Gorron.
